To talk to another human being is to be human. How could there be only one of anything in the world(including human)? Our existence is conditioned by existence of others. To be alone is not to be at all.
Tonight I had a wonderful opportunity to talk with a guy who devotes a good deal of his time to study the Orthodox Christian religion. As I am not a great believer, and I don't go to church or pray every day, I generally don't believe in God as presented by religions. I do have my own view, of course, and I was afraid of the scenario in which I would be preached about the errors of my way. Fortunately for me, this was not the case. Boza was incredibly talkative and patient enough to wait and listen to all of my views, and answer some of my questions.
During this long dialog I understood couple of things. First, I am not the only one who believes that God is something/someone different than presented in religions. Everyone has their own presentation of God in themselves.
Second, religiousness is in us and not in things that we do. Everyone can be religious no mater if they go to the church or not, for there is God in everyone even if there is no church(literally and in the means of institution).
And finally, whoever is a true religious person, he or she, would never try to push you in the right direction because they know that religion is just the search for a place where we would feel comfortable and welcome or troubled and rue if we are aware of our sins. A place where we stand naked with all our flaws, virtues and all the things we have done good or bad, a place where we are accepted and sheltered from everything that threatens us at any time, a place where we are given faith, hope and strength, to carry on in the real world. And ultimately a place that makes us humans that we individually are - sinful, flowed and distinctive.

The First Post

By Mereon

What should one state in his/her first post? I always ask myself this question over and over again as I'm typing my own. What should I write about here anyway? I'm not sure, so I'll just have to find out, won't I.
Let me start with something easy... How about a dull story about a good movie? That could do it, but everyone's done it already... How does one come to be original in this postmodern time? As the internet evolves it seems unlikely that no one has thought of the same idea you did. Global culture is taking over the entire planet and I am starting, slowly but surely, to be afraid that no options will be left. That everything will be decided by this culture and that so many beautiful things will be lost. I feel sad about that, but on the other hand I also feel confident that that will not be such a bad thing. Definitely every culture has something new and exotic to offer. I just hope, and that is all i can do for now, that basis of it will be intelligence, wisdom and emotions, and not pure passion, lust and shallow ideas. I hope it will help the world to develop in a different direction with new spotlight on true values. But then again i haven't defined those values myself... I'm so sloppy, although aren't all humans like that?
I don't think that any of my questions will be answered, I do not expect that to happen. Though, I do hope that I will eventually realize some of them... Time has to take it's toll on that one, I'll just have to wait and see how the things will develop.
