Will you wait for me?
By Mereon
The air is hot and the sky is gray. It is pressing the surface of the scorched dry earth as if it is trying to squeeze that little water it has left. I see a mirage just above the deserted road and sense the heat rising off the pavement towards the big warm bubbles of water that are crawling downwards - almost in a slow motion. I can feel wet spheres touch my arms here and there, they are starting to make my hair stick to my forehead. It is getting harder to breathe because the air is being filled with evaporation of now masses of raindrops touching the ground. It is confusing...the earth is still thirsty. Smell of rotten dry leaves comes to my nose. It is a familiar smell, the one I can sense almost every summer at least once. This is the first time this year I am sensing it.
High buzzing sound echoes the empty street.
- Hello! - it is a familiar voice - Hello!
- Yes...
- I'll be there in a couple of minutes...
Only the sound of raindrops crashing in the ground can be heard.
- Will you wait for me?
Beauty is unbearable!
- Yeah....why not...bye...
